Brandon Paul
If you don’t know me by now I go by the name of “bpaul”. Just like most of you I have been a die-hard Celtics fan since coming out of the womb. I am currently a sophomore at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH and I am part of the generation that has witnessed only one championship. Let me tell you, it may only be one but damn was it sweet.
Since I was able to watch TV with my father I have been watching Celtics games on a nightly basis. I can remember being a small child and cheering on David Wesley during his years as a Celtic. I remember always yelling “WALTAHHH” to my Dad following my cue from Celtics legend Tommy Heinsohn. In 2000 I attended my first Celtics game, a regular season game against the Toronto Raptors. At that time they still had Vince Carter and to this day I can remember him sobbing on the “Fleet Center” floor. The Celtics won the game and I went home happy.
After attending my first game I just couldn’t get enough, I was always at my Dad’s heels trying to get to a Celtics game. One of my best memories, although the end results weren’t great, was attending two games during the Pacers-Celtics series in 2005. I remember sitting a few rows up from Celtics legend Larry Bird and hearing the Garden crowd chant “Larry, Larry, Larry” and “Reggie, Reggie, Reggie (Miller)”.
Since those moments it has been in my blood, and like most Celtics fans realize basketball is not just a sport. The Boston Celtics are a way of life, we live and die for our team. Finally in 2008 I was able to witness the greatest moment in my life and celebrated it along side my friends while soaking each other in sparkling cider. We felt like we are part of the team and we celebrated along with them.
In the fall of 2009 I had the great idea to start a small blog alongside one of my best friends Travis Hilden. We both now own Gino’s Jungle and write for the blog Hardwood Houdini. I never would have guessed we would grow so fast, but we have because of the help from people like my co-host Nick Gelso.
And here I am, it’s January 2010 and I am co-hosting a Boston Celtics podcast. Who would have ever thunk it? On behalf of myself and the Celtics Late Night Show I want to thank all of you who have supported us, whether it be by listening to the show, calling into the show, or reading our blogs. We really do appreciate all you do and without you this would not be possible.
So here’s to Banner 18 and many more exciting podcast. Go Celtics!
