Tas Melas to talk hoops on CLNS tomorrow night
September 5, 2010
“Meet in the trap, it’s going down. Meet me in the mall, it’s going down. Meet me in the club, it’s going down. Anywhere you meet me guaranteed it’s going down.” – Young Joc
If I can guarantee one thing that’s going to happen in the next 24 hours or so, it is this: It’s going to be going down tomorrow night at 9pm on The Celtics Late Night Show. After already confirming Tim Povtak from AOL FanHouse earlier this week, we just confirmed that the one and only Tas Melas from The Basketball Jones will also be joining us for what is sure to be a crazy edition of The Celtics Late Night Show.
As a host of the show, I can truly tell you this episode will qualify for the second or third most excited I’ve ever been to host a show. We’re bringing in the author of this past week’s most controversial Celtics article, as well as one of the most humorous and knowledgeable NBA personalities out there, all in one show! As the person responsible for scheduling guests, it’s safe to say my ego is pretty high right now.
If all goes as planned, Tim Povtak will join us around 9:15 to discuss his most recent article, in which he quoted the Celtics as being “scared to death” of the Miami Heat. We will kindly question Tim on his choice of words in the article, as well as get his take on everything going on in both Miami and Boston.
We also plan on making this show in particular more “NBA related” rather than “Celtics related”. Last week A. Sherrod Blakely helped us run through the list of questions surrounding the Celtics upcoming season, and this week we’ll be bringing in a non-biased source in Tas Melas to breakdown the upcoming NBA season. We’ll get his take on what’s going to go down in the Eastern Conference, what’s going to happen in Miami, and much more.
As always, we’ll also be taking your calls to discuss all the happenings in Celtics Nation and the NBA. Call us at 877-245-6136. You can also submit questions for either guests by sending them to our mailbag.
Tim Povtak to discuss most recent article on CLNS Monday at 9pm
September 3, 2010
Tim Povtak, staff writer for AOL Fanhouse, will be joining Brandon and Nick on Monday night for what is sure to be a very entertaining episode of The Celtics Late Night Show. Tim recently wrote an article for FanHouse about the Celtics offseason moves, and went as far as to say the Celtics are “scared to death” of what’s going on in South Beach.
We will bring Tim on the show and kindly question him about some of the things he stated in his article. If you can not listen to the episode live Monday at 9pm, it will be available on our “Episodes” page, as well as on iTunes. You are also welcome to stop by our live chat during the show on the “Listen Live” page.
With Tim’s permission, we will also be selecting a select number of questions out of our mailbag to ask Tim. So, submit those questions here and he may just answer them live on the show!

“A Little Bit of This”
Tonight
at
8:00 PM
It’s been a while since one of us on The Celtics Late Night Show/Gino’s Jungle have worked our way onto another sports talk show, but tonight I plan to take my talents to “A Little Bit of This”, a show hosted by our good friend AEM. The title of his show says it all, we’ll talk a little bit of this, and a little bit of that.
He has given me a small preview of what we will be talking about. That list includes Sheed, LeFraud, and for some odd reason the Lakers. All three of those topics I have not liked at one point or another, so it should be interesting. You can listen to the show by going to this page here.
Oh, by the way, if it sounds like Dick Vitale talking, then you’ve tuned into the right place. Enjoy!
CLNS is back tonight at 9pm!
August 30, 2010
After a two-week hiatus, The Celtics Late Night Show will be back tonight (Monday) at 9pm EST. We will be joined by A. Sherrod Blakely from Comcast Sports Net New England. Since we last talked a lot has gone down in Celtics Nation (I just have to brainstorm all of it before tomorrow night). I’m sure we’ll talk a little Shaq, a little roster talk, and we may even start some preseason predictions.
Of course, we’re not just going to be talking between ourselves and Sherrod, even I get sick of hearing Nick’s voice sometimes. So that means that we’re going to need YOU to call in! The phone lines will be open once we let Sherrod off the hook, and will stay open as long as the calls are coming in.
Call us toll free at (877)-245-6136
The Celtics Late Night Show would also like to ask a big favor from all our listeners. Today, we created a quick ten questions survey in hopes of helping us make the show better and more enjoyable for you. If you could take five minutes out of your time to take the survey it would be greatly appreciated. You can fill out the survey below!

CLNS is on vacation!
August 23, 2010
We at CLNS are sorry to inform that we will not be broadcasting live tonight at 9pm EST. Although we strive to work hard to bring you top notch Celtics entertainment, sometimes these brains, fingers, and voices need a little rest.
Nick is drinking wine somewhere in Cape May, New Jersey while I sit here typing this and working on scheduling some top notch guests for the month of September. Must be nice, huh Nick? Anyways, we will be back next Monday at 9pm with A.Sherrod Blakely from Comcast Sports Net. You can guarantee that we will be back and we will be better than ever, as long as Nick isn’t still hungover from vacation.
In the meantime be sure to check out all of our network sites for all your Celtics news and notes. Here’s a quick rundown if you happened to forget all 10,000 five of our network sites: Gino’s Jungle, North Station Sports, Celtics 24/7, NBA Primetime and Dodging Traffic.
We can’t wait to get back at it and hear from you next week! Be sure to check the CLNS site often for all the latest news regarding upcoming shows, guest appearances, and much more. At the same time, be sure to subscribe for text message updates regarding show information. We won’t spam you!

Ainge Talks Hoops on CLNS Last Night
July 27, 2010
Austin Ainge, the son of Danny and coach of the NBADL Maine Red Claws, appeared on CLNS last night. What a show! Coach Ainge talked about the Red Claws first season as an expansion club, his relationship with his father and his expectations for the Celtics and Red Claws this season.
Ainge was also kind enough to share memories of his father getting traded away from Boston in 1988, his families close relationship with the New England area, the disdain other team’s feel for Danny. This included his version on Danny’s towel throwing incident in Cleveland during the playoffs. Austin also talked, at length, of his experience coaching the Celtics’ summer league squad, Luke Harrangody and other Celtics’ “newbies.”
This was probably my favorite episode to date. Check it out, in it’s entirety, below.
Tonight’s Guest: Austin Ainge
July 26, 2010

(Submit your questions for Ainge here)
This weeks guest on the Celtics Late Night Show has a very familiar name to all Celtics fans, Ainge. Now hold on for just one second, before you start coming up with questions to ask regarding the Jermaine O’Neal signing or keeping the Big 3 together I should point out that I am not talking about Danny Ainge, rather his son Austin Ainge. Austin Ainge may not be as well known as his father but certainly has the credentials to become one of the great minds in the game for years to come whether it comes as a coach or following in his fathers footsteps as a GM.
Austin is currently the head coach of the Maine Red Claws of the NBADL. Ainge has also spent time with the Celtics as a scout where his primary duties were centered around following prospects Bill Walker and J.R. Giddens during their time in the NBADL’s Utah Flash.
Ainge was a well decorated High School player for Highland High School in Gilbert, Arizona. Ainge was recognized as the Conference and East Valley MVP as well as earning First team honors in both his conference and East Valley. His playing career continued on to BYU where he lead the Cougars as a two time captain of the Mountain West Conference champions twice. His college career had him appear in three NCAA championship tournaments otherwise known as “March Madness” and one NIT tournament.
While his professional career did not take off as his fathers had following college, he did however manage to find a place in coaching. Southern Utah University took Ainge in giving him multiple responsibilities such as game planning, video diagnosis, and even recruiting.
Given Ainge’s success in the game of basketball already in his young career; both coaching and playing alike, it is safe to say that Austin Ainge is no longer under the shadow of being the “Son of Danny” and is making a name for himself throughout the sport.
Austin Ainge will join the Celtics Late Night Show this Monday, July 26 starting at 9PM.
